Dodo Payments
Merchant of record for SaaS, AI and digital products, with usage-based billing.
Works with AI agents:llms.txtDodo Payments is a merchant of record for SaaS, AI and digital products. It sells to your customers in 220+ countries as the legal seller, so payment processing, sales tax and VAT, fraud screening and chargebacks are its job; you add products, pick a checkout and receive payouts.
Billing models are built in: one-time, subscriptions, seat-based, usage-based through meters that count events your app sends, and credit-based with rollover and overage rules. Customers pay through payment links, an overlay or inline checkout on your page, or checkout sessions your backend creates. Official SDKs cover TypeScript, Python, Go, PHP, Java, Kotlin, C#, Ruby and Rust, with framework adaptors for Next.js, Nuxt, Express, Hono, SvelteKit, Convex and Better Auth, and checkout SDKs for iOS, Android, React Native and Flutter.
For a small team the useful parts are the LLM blueprint that tracks token usage per customer, license keys and digital delivery, prices shown in 80+ local currencies, a test mode that simulates payments and refunds, and a CLI that imports products, customers and discounts from Stripe, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy or Polar. It is hosted only, though you can connect your own Stripe or Adyen account and route payments to it by customer country.
It accepts automated digital products only: no physical goods, human-delivered services, financial or health products, or pre-launch waitlists. Eligibility depends on the country of your government ID, live payments wait for verification, and payouts additionally need a compliance review.

Questions makers ask about Dodo Payments
Which countries can sell with it?
Eligibility depends on the country that issued the government ID you verify with, not where your company is registered. For a registered company, every director and beneficial owner needs an ID from a listed country. source ↗
How long does verification take?
Most reviews finish within 1 to 3 business days. You submit product information, identity verification (plus business verification for companies) and bank details; live payments turn on when the forms are approved, and payouts also need a monitoring review. source ↗
What does my website need for approval?
A live site, reachable without an account, showing pricing, terms of service, privacy policy, refund and cancellation policy and a contact route, and matching what you entered in the form. Mismatches and unreachable URLs are common reasons for holds. source ↗
What products are not accepted?
Among others, physical goods, services where most of the value is human labour (design, consulting, coaching), adult content, financial and health products, and placeholder offerings such as waitlists or coming-soon pages. source ↗
Can I import my data from Stripe, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy or Polar?
The dodo-migrate CLI copies products, prices, customers and discount codes, plus license keys from Polar and Lemon Squeezy, and can import into test mode first. It does not move subscriptions, payment history or saved cards. source ↗
Can existing subscribers move without re-entering cards?
Yes, through a support-led migration. Your old processor sends encrypted card tokens to Dodo and you supply a subscriber CSV. Only card tokens transfer, not Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the card export alone takes about two weeks on average. source ↗
How often are payouts sent?
Twice a month by default, once your balance meets your minimum threshold. Higher-volume businesses can ask for weekly payouts, and some high-risk businesses are put on a monthly cycle. source ↗
Is Dodo Payments free?
No permanent free tier; paid use starts at 4% + 40¢ per transaction. source ↗
Is Dodo Payments open source or self-hostable?
Not open source, and hosted only.
Can AI coding agents work with Dodo Payments?
It serves an llms.txt docs index.
