What the model leaves out
Merchant of record; 4% + 40¢ for US cards and wallets. Add 1.5% for cards and payment methods outside the US, 3% for PayPal, and 3% for Klarna/Afterpay. ACH and SEPA direct debit are 1.5% capped at $15/€15 instead of the card rate. Indian INR payments are 4% + 15¢.
Before you commit
- Subscriptions, add-ons and usage-based billing add 0.5% per transaction; non-US cards add 1.5%; PayPal and Klarna/Afterpay add 3%.
- Each refund costs $1 and each dispute $30.
- Payouts under $1,000 carry a $5 fee, and USD SWIFT payouts for non-US businesses are $25.
- Abandoned-cart recovery, dunning and payment retries take 5% of any revenue they recover.
