Cloudflare pricing

How Cloudflare charges, what to know before you commit, and what you'd pay at your usage — next to what the alternatives would cost for the same thing.

What the model leaves out

Bandwidth (egress) is free on every plan, so bandwidth_gb costs nothing, and static hosting (Pages, or static assets on Workers) is free; Pages Functions are billed as Workers. Requests are Worker invocations — if most of your requests are static assets, the real bill is lower. Workers bill CPU milliseconds rather than memory, so fn_gb_hours is converted as if one GB-hour were one hour of CPU time (3.6M CPU-ms): $0.02 per million CPU-ms = $0.072 per GB-hour, and the 30M included CPU-ms = 8.33 GB-hours. That is an upper bound — I/O-bound code uses far less CPU time than its wall-clock duration. Free's request cap is 100,000 a day ≈ 3M a month, and its 10 ms CPU limit per invocation caps compute at about 8.33 GB-hours at that volume. KV, D1, Durable Objects, R2 and Workers Logs are priced separately and left out. Account members cost nothing.

Before you commit
  • Workers Paid is a $5 monthly minimum per account.
  • You pay for CPU time, not wall-clock duration — time spent waiting on I/O is free — but CPU time is capped per invocation (default 30 seconds, max 5 minutes; 10 ms on Free).
  • Requests to static assets are free and unlimited, but with Workers Caching on, responses served from the Worker's cache are billed as requests.
  • Free allows 100,000 Worker requests a day, not a monthly pool.

In short

Cloudflare Images: transforming images kept in your own bucket is free for 5,000 unique transformations a month, then $0.50 per 1,000; storing them in Images costs $5 per 100,000 images plus $1 per 100,000 delivered.

What the model leaves out

Two ways to use it. Transforming images that live elsewhere (R2, S3, your server) bills only unique transformations, so images_stored and bandwidth_gb cost nothing here — but the bucket is a separate bill (R2: 10 GB free, then $0.015/GB, no egress fees). Storing images in Cloudflare Images bills images stored and images delivered, not transformations. Images delivered are converted from bandwidth at 100 KB per optimized image: $1 per 100,000 images = $0.10 per GB. Storage blocks of 100,000 are modelled as $5 including the first 100,000 then $0.00005 per image; in reality each further block is another $5. The pricing page states no other minimum fee. Cloudflare Stream (video) is priced separately and left out.

Before you commit
  • On Free, transformations past 5,000 a month return error 9422 instead of an image; you aren't charged.
  • A unique transformation is counted once per calendar month, so the same variant requested again next month counts again.
  • Storing images in Cloudflare Images needs a paid plan; storage is bought in blocks of $5 per 100,000 images.
  • With images stored in Images, every image the browser requests counts as one delivery; variants don't add to storage or transformations.
