Rollbar

Error monitoring platform that groups errors, links session replays and releases, and can suggest fixes.

Rollbar collects the errors and exceptions your app throws in production and turns thousands of raw reports into a short list of distinct problems. You see which errors are new, which returned, and how many users each affects.

You add a Rollbar SDK to each app and give it a project access token. Officially supported SDKs cover JavaScript in the browser and Node.js (with React, Angular and Vue guides), Python, PHP, Ruby, Go, Java and Android, .NET and Apple platforms. Each report is an "occurrence", and a grouping engine trained with machine learning merges occurrences from the same error into an "item". You can merge items by hand or write your own fingerprint rules when the defaults group wrongly.

Useful pieces for a small team: browser session replays and telemetry breadcrumbs showing what happened before an error; deploy tracking that links errors to the release and commits that introduced them (your CI has to report each deploy through the API); person tracking for affected users; RQL, a SQL-like language for querying your error data; and an MCP server. Resolve, an AI agent now in open beta, investigates an error and opens a pull request with a proposed fix, running on separate credits.

Limits: Rollbar is focused on errors rather than full tracing or log management. Telemetry breadcrumbs exist only in the JavaScript, iOS and .NET SDKs, the free plan keeps occurrence data for 30 days, and SAML single sign-on and HIPAA BAAs require higher-tier plans.

Questions makers ask about Rollbar

Which languages and frameworks are supported?

Rollbar maintains SDKs for JavaScript (browser and Node.js, with React, Angular and Vue guides), Python, PHP, Ruby, Go, Java and Android, .NET and Apple platforms; some frameworks, such as Svelte, are community supported. source ↗

How long does Rollbar keep my error data?

By default, occurrence data is kept up to 180 days on paid plans (the exact period depends on the plan) and 30 days on the free plan. Owners on paid plans can choose a shorter period, after which data is permanently deleted or redacted. source ↗

Is Rollbar HIPAA compliant?

Rollbar's Compliant SaaS environment follows HIPAA and the HITECH Act, and Rollbar signs a Business Associate Agreement at no extra cost, starting with the annually billed Advanced 4M plan. It also follows ISO 27001 controls. source ↗

Does Rollbar support SAML single sign-on?

Yes, on Advanced and Enterprise plans, with guides for Okta and OneLogin including SCIM provisioning, and OIDC SSO. source ↗

What if errors are grouped incorrectly?

You can merge items manually or write custom grouping rules (fingerprints) on top of the default machine-learning grouping. source ↗

Does Rollbar detect my deploys automatically?

No. Your CI/CD tool has to call Rollbar's deploy API on each release; once it does, Rollbar shows deploy history, undeployed commits and the deploy suspected of causing an error. source ↗

What does Rollbar Resolve need?

Resolve is in open public beta on every plan, including Free, but needs an active credit subscription with available credits and the GitHub App installed. It runs root-cause analysis and can open a pull request after running your tests. source ↗

Is Rollbar free?

Yes — there is a free tier a small product can run on; paid use starts at $9/mo. source ↗

Is Rollbar open source or self-hostable?

Not open source, and hosted only.

Can AI coding agents work with Rollbar?

It serves an llms.txt docs index.
