Rork builds mobile apps from a chat. You describe the app, the agent writes the code, runs it on a cloud iOS simulator or Android emulator next to the chat, and helps you ship it to TestFlight, the App Store or Google Play. It is aimed at founders who want a store-ready mobile app without writing it themselves.

New projects are native: SwiftUI for iPhone, Kotlin with Jetpack Compose for Android, and Vite + React for web apps, which Rork publishes to an address on rork.app. Rork used to generate Expo (React Native) apps; it stopped creating new Expo projects, though existing ones still build, publish and export. An iPhone app and an Android app are two separate codebases in one project, sharing a backend and a chat. Design mode proposes screens before any code is written, and Plan mode writes a plan before changing files.

When the app needs data, Rork can create Rork Cloud, a hosted backend with a database, per-user access rules and server-side functions (free while in beta), or connect your own Supabase or Firebase project. It also sets up RevenueCat subscriptions, sign-in, notifications and AI features. Every project is a codebase you can read; on a paid plan you can edit it by hand and sync it two-way with GitHub to keep working in Xcode, Cursor or any editor.

The free plan only designs: building a working app, editing code and exporting it need a paid plan. Pricing is by credits with no add-on packs, so when you run out you upgrade or wait for the monthly reset, and iOS builds and simulator sessions cost credits on top of the message. iPad, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, widgets and games need the Rork Max plan, and publishing still needs your own Apple or Google developer account.

Questions makers ask about Rork

Does Rork still build React Native / Expo apps?

No longer for new projects. New apps are native iPhone (Swift), native Android (Kotlin) or web (React); existing Expo projects keep working and can still be built, published and exported to GitHub, and Rork offers to rebuild them in SwiftUI. source ↗

Do I own the code, and how do I export it?

Paid users own all generated code. You export it through Rork's GitHub integration, which syncs both ways, so you can edit locally and import the changes back into Rork. source ↗

What does it cost?

Free is $0 with design credits only (5 a day, up to 35 a month in major markets); Rork Pro is $20/month for 100 credits and unlocks building iPhone, Android and web apps; Rork Max starts at $200/month for 1,000 credits and adds iPad, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, games and widgets. source ↗

Which AI models does it use?

Paid plans can choose from a catalog that includes Rork's own Rork Fast plus Anthropic (Opus, Sonnet), OpenAI (GPT) and xAI (Grok) models; the catalog changes as Rork adds models, and none of them are available on Free. source ↗

Do I need my own backend?

No. Rork Cloud provides a hosted database, access rules and server-side functions, free while in beta, or you can connect your own Supabase or Firebase project. You can later transfer a Rork Cloud backend to your own Supabase organization with its data, one way only. source ↗

Can I buy more credits when I run out?

No. There is no way to buy credits separately; you upgrade to a higher plan or wait for the monthly reset. Rork says it does not charge credits for AI errors. source ↗

Is Rork free?

No permanent free tier; paid use starts at $20/mo. source ↗

Is Rork open source or self-hostable?

Not open source, and hosted only.

Can AI coding agents work with Rork?

It serves an llms.txt docs index.
