What the model leaves out
AWS us-east-1 prices. PS-5 is 1/16 vCPU and 512 MiB RAM; bigger sizes (PS-10 $10 single / $30 HA on arm64, and up) cost more. Each cluster includes the first 10 GB of network-attached storage and production HA branches include 100 GB/month egress, a single-node PS-5 only 10 GB; extra storage is $0.125/GB and egress $0.06/GB (from PlanetScale's published storage and egress rate endpoints for us-east). Compute hours beyond 730 are a second cluster at the same monthly rate prorated per hour. Backups beyond the included amount and Vitess (MySQL, from $39 for PS-10) are not modelled. No free tier.
- A single-node PS-5 includes only 10 GB of egress a month; production HA branches include 100 GB.
- In us-east-1, extra storage is $0.125/GB, egress $0.06/GB, and backup storage beyond the included amount $0.023/GB.
- Each branch runs on its own cluster, billed by the millisecond it runs.
- Extra replicas don't get the 10 GB included disk; you pay for the full disk on each one.
